Valle D’Aosta &
Gran Paradiso National Park

This exclusive itinerary created especially for clients of Studio E and MGFS takes you on a discovery of Valle d’Aosta, of its soul and poetry, and of the extraordinary universe enclosed in the smallest of the Italian regions.

Valle d’Aosta is tucked away in the northwestern corner of Italy and at the border with France and Switzerland. It is surrounded by four of the highest peaks in Italy and in Europe. Remote valleys hide unique cultures, fascinating traditions, and enchanting scenery. Throughout our adventure, we will explore the Gran Paradiso, the first Italian National Park, whose history is indissolubly linked to the protection of the ibex population. We will be privately guided throughout our walks and hike along comfortable trails and paths nestled in splendid natural settings that are dotted by exquisite hamlets and villages displaying a characteristic architecture accompanied by breathtaking panoramas. We will admire the exquisite craftsmanship of the innumerable local artisan and sculptors and will learn about the extremely rich history, the unique local customs and traditions; we will enjoy the typical gastronomy and have the opportunity to do some wine tasting.

Please download our tailored itinerary for a day by day breakdown of our Italian voyage.

Testimonials

"I participated in a 2009 Piedmonte Region hiking trip with Alps and Beyond, and I had no idea what to expect, although the itinerary was so detailed, that everything was organized for us. The part that I wasn’t counting on, was the amount of time that Anna spent on our daily hikes, inasmuch as she walks the tours extensively before she will book a group. Once on the trip, from being picked up in a private bus that we had at our disposal for the entire trip, to accommodations and amazing meals, this was by far, the most amazing trip I have ever been on. I am taking my second trip and have recruited some new friends to join me!"  - R.

"I've been to Italy before, but never on a trip like this one. Anna creates a warm comraderie among the group, so that we can experience amazing things together. The trip was not your typical tourist itinerary, & it was a nice change of pace. We actually got to sit down with local people & learn about their lives & experience the warmth of the people we interacted with. The hotels and the restaurants we went to were very nice & we traveled comfortably from place to place. The Piemonte trip was truly a trip I'll never forget."  - Anne/Judith Miller

Past Events & Excursions

Hill Towns, Vineyards & Castles of Piemonte

In August of 2009 our tour company, Alps and Beyond, customized an itinerary that took us on a unique exploration of the Langhe, a pristine region nestled in the southern corner of Piemonte (aka Piedmont).

We hiked among the vineyards, medieval castles, and hilltop towns of the region in addition to visiting a hazelnut farm and several wineries. We tasted outstanding hazelnut desserts, award winning wines and savored the region’s extraordinary cuisine. This is an area still undiscovered by mass tourism with land of vast horizons and breathtaking panoramas; it’s a land that spoke to us through its gentleness and silence—just like the Piemontese, a very reserved but proud people who spoke through their soul, their food, their art.

Hope you’ll join us on our next excursion!

Galena Women’s Weekend Getaway

In late August Studio E and some friends spent a glorious weekend in Galena, Illinois for some outdoor fun.

We rented a spacious townhome with all the amenities in beautiful Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa. The gals and I took advantage of the resort’s gorgeous scenic views and hilly terrain to get in some weekend warrior action before winter sets in. We hiked and biked for most of the day on Saturday and later laid by the pool to catch up on some reading and to load up on vitamin D. Before the day was over, we made sure to take advantage of their full service spa to reward our well-worked out bodies. On Sunday we did another morning hike and meditation and also got in a run before heading to the lake for paddle boating. Finally, before leaving Galena, we headed into town and explored the quaint art shops and Galena’s farmers’ market. It was such a fun, relaxing, active, soul searching getaway.
